Coach Pitch falls under the Baseball Canada Rally Cap Program (along with TBall).
Three teams are assigned to the field. While two teams are playing a half inning, the third team is in the field practicing specific (fun!) drills to work on skills such as fielding, throwing, catching, batting, sliding, etc. Once the half inning is finished, the teams rotate with the team that was working on skills coming in to play and one of the teams playing going out to work on skills.
The games last a maximum of 90 minutes and typically consist of teams playing three to four innings and working on three separate drills. Coach Pitch is designed to be a two-year program with players evaluated twice each year and given report cards and new caps if they meet the skills requirements of their level. Coach Pitch players are ages 7 and 8.
Once players are ready to hit balls thrown by a pitching machine, they move up to Rookie Ball.
